Ted Sherrod is a Principal Environmental Engineer with AECOM with key responsibilities involving management of construction stormwater and post construction stormwater programs, design of stormwater control measures and training materials, and development of stormwater management plans for private and public sector clients.
Ted retired in 2010 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) with 30 years of service. At retirement, he worked with the NCDOT Roadside Environmental Unit and as a Transportation Engineering Manager for the Field Operations Section in Raleigh. Ted was tasked with implementing the Department’s Erosion and Sedimentation/Stormwater (E&SC/SW) program for linear and vertical construction statewide. His roles involved design and field implementation of erosion and sediment control and stormwater for a comprehensive linear construction program; supervising 15 field engineers and technicians. Ted also oversaw the development of an erosion and sediment control/stormwater certification program for over 5,000 engineers, consultants, contractors, and transportation technicians fleet-wide involving inspection, site management, and design. He was instrumental in implementing RUSLE2 into components of the NCDOT erosion and sediment control and stormwater design analysis process.
Ted has worked in an engineering consulting role over the past decade assisting clients including the power industry sector, municipalities, private industry, oil and gas sector, Indian Nations, NCDOT, GDOT, ALDOT, and MissDOT on solutions with erosion and sediment control and post construction stormwater challenges. He has worked on numerous projects with a major utility company for the past five years with an emphasis on E&SC design, permitting, and implementation.
Ted holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer – Civil in North Carolina; Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality; and Certified Professional in Municipal Stormwater Management. Ted has conducted seminars and training workshops in the erosion and sediment control and stormwater disciplines nationally and internationally. In October 2017 he was presented with the Distinguished Service Award from EnviroCert International (an international certification body for E&SC professionals and inspectors) for dedication, contributions, and leadership in the promotion of the E&SC Industry.
