Clear Water Alabama Seminar Educates About Erosion and Sediment Control

Alabama’s Soil and Water Conservation Committee held their very first seminar in East Alabama today at the Oxford Civic Center. The Clear Water Alabama Seminar was held to offer help to designers, contractors, inspectors and others learn more about erosion and sediment control. More than 100 attendees arrived from all over the state as well as Mississippi.

The seminar informed the attendees about practices and products that can be used to help control or prevent erosion and sediment during construction. The Erosion and Sediment Control Program Coordinator says its important to preserve our water quality.

Norton also shares what different kind of products are available to prevent or control erosion and sediment from spreading.

To conclude the two day seminar, a field day event will take place tomorrow where attendees will go out to the former Fort McClellan to view a field that was a former firing range. The range previously had led embedded into the soil and that soil and led was removed and replaced with new soil. Attendees will get the opportunity to see the new planting as well as test products out in Choccolocco Creek.
