Subject: IECA Annual Conference Summary for the International Geosynthetics Society

Dear Kim,

As the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) liaison to the International Erosion Control Association (IECA), I have prepared the following summary of the 2022 IECA Annual Conference and Expo.
The 2022 IECA Annual Conference and Expo took place February 14 – 18, 2022 in Minneapolis, MN at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The annual conference and expo welcomed over 1000 in-person attendees, exhibitors, and industry experts for a robust technical program, networking, and product and technology exhibitions. A virtual component of the annual conference and expo has been made available to in-person attendees, and is continuing to accept registrations from international participants. The live virtual education program will take place March 1-3, 2022, and can be accessed through the registration portal here: https://www.eventscribe.net/2022/IECA2022/.
Topics discussed during in-person technical program were varied and highly relevant to the present and future of the erosion and sediment control industry. A summary of the technical program can be found here: www.ieca.org/annual22. Key topics that were discussed during the conference were: reduction of plastics in erosion and sediment control, 2022 EPA Construction General Permit, Roadside Bio-retention, and Low Impact Development. Conference events included a guided Ice-Fishing trip and a tour of the University of Minnesota’s St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.
Future IECA Annual Conference and Expo venues will be; 2023 – Kansas City, MO (Co-located with the IFAI Geosynthetic Conference, and 2024 – Spokane, WA.

Thank you,
