Tennessee Update – Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau is Stepping Down

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announced April 6 that Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau is leaving at the end of April.  He has headed the department since 2011 and will work in the private sector with a nonprofit group.  Deputy Commissioner Shari Meghreblian has been named as the Governor’s choice to succeed Martineau.  Dr. Meghreblian is a wise choice for the position, bringing years of experience in the private sector as well as the public service arena for a unique blend of understanding, mediation, and customer appreciation.  She will take the reins on May 1.

On a more personal note, your humble SE Chapter Tennessee Representative is now in the race for a different kind of representation.  I am currently running for a seat in our Tennessee General Assembly, with an August 2nd primary.  The district covers most of Madison County in the center of west Tennessee.  This is my first political venture and stems from a legislative interest cultivated over a number of years working with the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) State Leadership Council.  I have come to appreciate how influential our state government is in our lives and want to help make sure my home state remains a great place to live and raise a family.
